Support: Hero Hunt
A few weeks back, we had the pleasure of meeting the folks of Hero Hunt at an industry event in Georgia. They are great people, with a great mission, and we wanted to share what they do, in their own words:
About Hero Hunt
Hero Hunt was born in June of 2012 when Joe and Kim Towers bought a small farm in Tennessee. They wanted to give back to people in a community they are a part of. Joe is a veteran of the US Coast Guard and still an active police lieutenant in Nashville, Tennessee. He has been in law enforcement for 27 years and saw first hand the need to help those injured in the law enforcement community, military and firefighters. Kim was herself injured in the line of duty in 2010 and had to be medically retired due to those injuries in 2011. At the inception of Hero Hunt there weren't any organizations helping our men and women from all walks of military and public service.
So it began with 3 deer hunts in the fall of 2012 with 3 to 4 injured military members. In the spring of 2013 we received our non-profit status and added a few turkey hunts. From the first year in 2012 to present day we have grown to a point that we would have never imagined.
We have expanded from 3 deer hunts in 2012 to 35 events in 2020 with over 150 participants this year. Events include hunting deer, wild pigs, dove, duck, goose, pheasant and turkey. We have also added bass and off shore fishing as well as canoe trips. COVID concerns caused us to cancel 7 events in 2020 but we are still finishing strong. We are on track to plan and launch at least 40 events in 2021.
Our mission is to serve those who have served and sacrificed at home and abroad, our line of duty injured military, police and firefighters.
