September 2022 NICS Records Show Continued Trend of High Gun Sales

During the absolute height of the pandemic, we saw the largest record of gun sales and NICS background checks in 2020. That year, there were about 40 million NICS checks and 21 million gun sale transactions. The second highest record year was 2021 with around 39 million NICS checks and 18 million gun sale transactions. This year, 2022 is on track to be the third highest record year with around 10 million NICS checks and 12.8 million gun sale transactions so far in 2022. You might think, “how is 2022 going to be the third highest setting record year?”

Well, we’re actually on track to see another 5 million or so new gun sale transactions by the end of this year due to a few factors:

• Hunting season in the fall - hunting guns experience an increase in demand as tags for certain game open up.
• Holiday season - guns are purchased as gifts for Christmas.
• Midterm elections in November- consistently drive demand for guns up due to the threat of rights being diminished or restricted by politicians.

We prefer building our guns instead of buying them sometimes but hey, keep it up! We’ve got to show the anti-gunners every year that what they’re trying to take away from us is all in “common-use” and make it as hard as possible for them to take away our rights.

Where did all the steam for Constitutional Carry go?

Over the past year and a half we’ve extensively covered the topic of Constitutional Carry and how more states have been passing some form of permitless carry legislation. In fact, we now have 25 states in the country that have done so. That’s half of the country!

Last year, we saw five states pass ‘CC’ laws and this year there have been four so far. Hopefully, Florida doesn’t drop the ball again so that they can become the fifth state this year to pass Constitutional Carry for themselves and the 26th state in the country to do so; which we’re eagerly anticipating so that we can say “over half of the country has done it now, get with program people.” Perhaps New Mexico may surprise as well.

And that’s for good reason too. Passing Constitutional Carry does a number of positive things such as doing away with the issues of CCW permit reciprocity between states. Had it not been for the red tape, Lloyd Muldrow, a former U.S. Marine, wouldn’t have been arrested in Baltimore, Maryland for having a CCW from Virginia… the financial barrier to concealed carrying is also greatly reduced when someone isn’t legally required to pay for said permit and for the classes or training mandated by the state.

By no means are we against training, it’s just that you don’t necessarily need expensive classes to know the basics with so much good information already up on YouTube which can be shared and streamed for free.

With the Midterm Elections and the holiday season already in full swing, it’s easy to forget about this topic. To stay apprised, check back with us often and you can even refer to this helpful map from USCCA to see which states have Constitutional Carry and which don’t yet.

Tulsi Gabbard Publicly Quits Democratic Party w/ a Pro-2A Message

If you’ve forgotten who Tulsi Gabbard was, you’re definitely going to remember her now. First, here’s a brief snippet of her background: Gabbard had sought the Democratic nomination for the 2020 presidential election - but unfortunately, lost to Joe Biden. She’s served in the U.S. Army Reserve as an officer and as congresswoman from Hawaii from 2013 to 2021.

This week, Gabbard publicly “quit the Democratic Party” via the debut of her new podcast - The Tulsi Gabbard Show. The first episode is less than half an hour long and in it, she blasted the wokeness in the Democratic party “turning our Democracy into a banana republic” touching on several key national topics.

“I can no longer remain in today’s Democratic party. It’s now under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers driven by cowardly wokeness who divide us by racializing every issue and stoking anti-white racism who actively work to undermine our God given freedoms enshrined in our Constitution and who are hostile to people of faith and spirituality. Who demonize the police who protect criminals at the expense of law abiding Americans who believe in open borders who weaponize the national security state to go after their political opponents and above all, are dragging us ever close to nuclear war.”

The podcast’s first episode is titled, “Why I’m leaving the Democratic Party,” some serious buzz words to be sure, and it had a particularly pro-2A message:

“Our Founders intentionally passed the Second Amendment right after the First Amendment. The majority ruling from the recent Supreme Court striking down New York’s law that barred people from concealed carry firearms really summarized clearly why Democrats are so wrong to try to take away our 2A rights.” Gabbard explains that the defiance of the Supreme Court’s Bruen ruling is precisely why people do not trust the Democratic party or the government when politicians make up their own rules and essentially spin their own truths.

What does it say about a party that pushes out a two decade veteran of the Democratic party? While Gabbard may not be blowing the whistle necessarily (yet), she’s certainly bringing attention to some very important topics that hit particularly close to home for many of us in the gun community and industry. Her opinions on their own are probably not new for most people but they have this poignant clarity that hits harder hearing it come from someone of her status and original side of the political aisle. More politician’s should take a page out of Gabbard’s book and bring back honor to the rule of law.

Being this close to the Midterm Elections voting day it’s hard to know how much of an effect her public departure from the Dems will have but nonetheless, Gabbard ended the episode with a call to action for other disillusioned Democrats to join her and we sure hope that more follow in suit.

“I’m calling on my fellow common sense independent minded Democrats to join me in leaving the Democratic Party. If you can no longer stomach the direction that the so-called woke Democratic party idealogues are taking our country, then I invite you to join me.” We’re looking forward to the topics that Gabbard will talk about in the upcoming episodes of her new show and hope that it gains serious traction. Get Ready to Vote for the 2022 Midterm Elections!

Unless you have deep pockets capable of funding politicians’ election campaigns and bankrolling lobbyists, what's the one thing anyone can do that doesn’t cost a dime? It’s voting. So get registered to vote! Sure it may cost you time and take some planning on your part if you are doing it in-person but that’s the price of living in a democracy. Make your voice count with us, let’s retake congressional majorities and protect not only the Second Amendment, but our culture and values. The 2022 Midterm Elections are less than a month away.
