I can't get the patriot
I can't get the patriot button to work correctly. Either the magazine will come out with the upper attached, or the magazine won't come out when the upper is popped apart to remove it.
Very good entry level kit.
I purchased this kit along with the Easy Jig 2. Instructions for completing the lower receiver were excellent and it was even easier than I expected. The build quality of the jig is exceptional. When it came to assembling the rifle, I was a little disappointed at the lack of instructions. Call me a newbie, but this is an entry level kit. Instructions would have been very welcome. Providing a link to a preferred guide on YouTube would have been acceptable. I ended up following some excellent, step-by-step videos from a competitor. The only piece missing to make this a "complete" kit is a rear sight. I suspect that it is made optional so the buyer can pick what they prefer, but I didn't realize it wasn't part of the kit until I was done building it.
The centerpiece of this kit
The centerpiece of this kit of course is the lower, which is very good. And overall it's a fine kit that conveniently shows up in one package. That said, this company seems newer and a bit small, which is always nice to see, but it takes them longer to get orders out during the busy political climate. My order of this kit, plus a P80 lower, and an LR308 lower were all in-stock with a message “may take a week to ship”. Instead it took a month. For comparison, at the same time I ordered the same P80 lower and a similar AR 80% lower from Midway and it took 3 days, and, I ordered the same upper as in this kit from PSA directly and it took 5 days. Finally, the price. When I got this kit it was $549. Not terribly expensive, but you can buy the same upper assembly direct from PSA for $269 during their frequent sales. Then of course the lower parts are always cheap. So along with saving time, could perhaps save some money as well. Overall this seems like a neat little company that makes some good parts, which is something I like to support. However, for parts they don't make, other good places may offer you better price & shipping, at least during times like this. In the end, I built a similar "kit" weeks sooner and for over $100 less.
The only issue I had
The only issue I had with the kit was putting the handle on the lower receiver. The bolt supplied was not the same thread pattern so I had to use a different one to attach the handle. Other than that it all turned out great. The jig worked great and I had no other issues building it.
I love it, easy to
I love it, easy to build using the gen 2 easy jig.
